About Moerdeng

The short version

The Moerdeng lineup runs to six benches and 28 jackets, each in a handful of colours and up to six sizes. Each page here holds one size of one colour, so the price belongs to the jacket in front of you rather than to a family of them.

What we care about is the match between a jacket and a day, and we will say so plainly on every page. A long coat below the knee for standing at a platform. A hip length shell for the lift line. A thin softshell for the shoulder season. We name the benches for the weather, so you can choose one before you open a single photograph.

What this catalogue adds

A page per bench with a catalogue index and filters for colour, size and construction. A jacket page prints the cut, the lining, the hood, the cuffs, the shell where the maker states it, and the weight of that exact size in pounds. The other colours of the same jacket sit beside it as small photographs, and the other sizes in that colour sit above them as a row of links.

Three guides do the reading: how the federal rules govern the words on a clothing label, how a layering system works in the cold, and what the care label is allowed to tell you. Each quotes its sources word for word and prints the date we read them.

What we do not do

We do not take payment here. Buttons open the jacket at our retail partner, and payment, delivery and returns all happen there. A rating on a page belongs to that jacket alone and is never added up across the range. Where the maker makes a claim about weather, the page repeats it as the maker's words.

Which size should I take?

These jackets run close to the body. If you wear a fleece or a jumper under a coat, take the size above your usual one. Every jacket page lists the sizes made in that colour, each with its own price.

Are these jackets waterproof?

The maker calls them waterproof and windproof, and those words appear on our pages as the maker's words. No water column figure is published for this range, and there is no mention of taped seams. Read them as good in snow and a shower, not as a shell for a day of steady rain.

How warm is a given jacket?

There is no temperature rating, because none is published. The two honest guides are the lining, printed on every page, and the weight of that size in pounds. A long coat with fleece lining at over two pounds is a standing-still coat. A short puffer at a pound is a moving coat.

Why is every size its own page?

That is how they are sold. The price belongs to the exact size and colour you are looking at, and the row above the photographs links the other sizes with their own figures.

Does the hood come off?

On most jackets in the range it does, and the page says so under Hood. Where a faux fur trim is fitted, it unclips separately.
